Below are some tips that may be helpful when preparing to shoot with me. Obviously, take what’s helpful and ignore what isn’t based on our shared plan and your personal needs and preferences.
Safety & Comfort
Your safety is my priority for any session.
- Escort / Friend: You are welcome to bring an escort or friend to any shoot to help ensure your safety and comfort. (Obviously, this person should be comfortable with the type of shoot that you plan to do.)
- Safety Check-Ins: Whether or not you bring someone with you, I think it’s also a good idea to let someone know where you plan to be and for how long. I won’t be offended if you need to stop the session for initial and on-going check-ins so the people who care about your safety can be reassured.
- Stop Any Time: You can always, at any time, ask for something to be changed, for photos to stop, or for the session to end. You do not need to have a reason or justification for this. This is particularly important for rope, bondage, or fetish sessions. Please do not hesitate to say that you are in discomfort or pain and need something to change or to be released. I will never press for additional shots, and I would much rather take a break, make sure everything is OK, and try again than press on and risk injury.
- Respecting Limits: I try to get a clear sense of your interests, comfort level, and limits before any session begins. Once we set those, I will never press to change them. However, you are free to make changes in either direction during the session. (For example, if you initially said you wanted to include rope but change your mind during the session. Or, conversely, if you initially said you didn’t want rope but decide you’d like to add it to the session.)
Physical Preparation
- Bring Water and Snacks: Particularly if we’re shooting outside and/or doing anything that involves rope, bondage, or other intense fetish-related aspects. The body can have strong reactions to rope, and people who are new to rope are often surprised at how drained they can feel after even fairly simple rope sessions.
- Bring Layers: It’s always helpful to have something simple to “throw on” between shots, particularly if the session involves sexually suggestive outfits or implied / partial / full nudity. In addition, if rope is involved, many people feel warm or hot during the rope session and then suddenly cold afterwards. Having additional layers and/or a blanket to use can be helpful.
- Costumes / Props / Hair & Makeup: I don’t do makeup or hair, so please prepare for that however you prefer for the concept we’ve discussed. I do have some props and clothing options I can provide, and I am always happy to source, build, or try to acquire elements that will contribute to our session. That said, if you have props or clothing / costumes that fit our concept, please bring those.
- Avoid Restrictive Clothing (Maybe): If we’re doing shots that involve implied, partial, or full nudity, it’s helpful if you avoid wearing tight clothing that would leave lines on the body. This is by no means a necessity, but it’s helpful for the editing process.
